Suggested Worlds You would like to see in game.

Postby Golden Ace » Mon Feb 19, 2018 11:48 pm

What GladDog said
Make suggestions! Suggest a basic world you would like to see in the game. Maybe devote 3-4 paragraphs to a basic description. I would stay away from established worlds like Dune and Pern, but something somewhat based on their premise could be awesome!

If the dev team likes what you described, they may ask for a more fleshed out version. But keep in mind - if you give them an idea they want to use, you need to sign a release form for it. You may not want any $$$ for what you do, but there is someone out there in internet-land looking to make a fast buck who could tie your idea up in court for years - unless you sign a release form.
Hortus Somnia (Garden of Dreams)

Hortus Somnia is the breathable area of an airless, light gravity, Ancient Alien Moon. The area contains an ancient alien city of an unknown long gone extraterrestrial species. It is unknown how the atmosphere remains contained within the zone. Hortus Somnia is currently inhabited by Human scientists and colonialists trying to uncover alien technology and other knowledge about the missing alien species.

Ecosystem

Local scientists have determined that the atmospheric bubble that surrounds Hortus Somnia has been in place for hundreds of thousands of years maybe even longer. The plant and animal life, within Hortus Somnia appears to contain terrestrial, along with many extraterrestrial genomes. In some areas the differing genomes appear to coexist in harmony, while in others they are more dangerous and in a constant state of war. This area has been marked off-limits. These areas are extremely dangerous as the plants and animals are constantly mutating into new and dangerous forms and attack anything that moves.

Story Arc

Discover the secrets of the Hortus Somnia story arc

First: Some local scientists have gone missing. Find out what happened to the missing group of scientists. - You determine the scientists were working in a hidden alien lab deep within the off-limits area. Return to contact.

Second. Your contact sends you to the hidden lab. You fight through the off-limits area through some long winding trails under the cover of trees to find the lab entrance. You enter the lab to find that it has been overrun by alien creatures. A kill all mission, which ends when each team member has collected one of the items the scientists were working on. (each team member would have to collect an experimental alien tech Atmospheric Belt, much like in the Terra Volta Reactor core for the mission to end) Return to contact.

Third: Your contact tells you that the scientists uncovered some of the alien atmosphere sustaining technology, and have manufactured the belts that produce a bubble of atmosphere around the wearer. You also have discovered the location of several ancient alien bases located outside of the atmospheric bubble. Your contact directs you use the Atmospheric Belts to explore each of the alien bases outside Hortus Somnia on the lifeless surface of the moon. Rock like monsters roam the vacuum of the moon and don't like you bringing atmosphere into their domain.

Each base contains many suspended animation chambers with human and aliens from the distant past. Escort each of the individuals you rescued back to Hortus Somnia while keeping them within your atmospheric bubble and fighting through the rock creatures.

The final base contains a race of aliens that appear to have built Hortus Somnia, or were at least using it when the atmospheric bubble shrank.

The aliens seem to go into a state of hibernation or suspended animation when caught in a vacuum. Some sort of accident or sabotage caused the Atmospheric bubble to shrink to its present size. All the aliens caught outside the Atmospheric bubble went into hibernation waiting to be awakened by the fist trace of an atmosphere. you and your atmospheric belts brought the atmosphere that has awakened them. For unknown reasons this race of aliens appears to have been sampling humans from Earth and other alien planets via teleportation for thousands of years.

Your job is to defeat all the aliens, rescue the beings in suspended animation and bring them back to the atmospheric bubble of the Hortus Somnia. After you rescue all the ancient humans you earn the Ancient Knowledge History Badge - Ancient Knowledge: You have rescued all the ancient humans and have discover facts about the past never known before. return to contact.

Final Mission your contact has been able to decipher the alien language and has discovered the whereabouts of an extremely powerful Teleportation device capable of transmitting beings across interstellar distances. Your task is to defeat all aliens in the base and to disable the device before it can be used to call reinforcements from their home planet. Unfortunately, your rescuing the ancient humans caused the return of breathable atmosphere to the base which has caused the hibernating aliens within it to awaken. I'm thinking about a nice battle like in the Terra Volta Reactor Core only you're the one trying to destroy the core / teleporter with awakened aliens coming in waves trying to stop you from destroying the Teleportation device, and a few waves coming from the aliens home planet via the Teleportation Device.

Giant Monster

Doctor Klaus Schöpfer. Nearly two centuries ago the FHS Justice located the alien moon and the abandoned atmosphere covered city. The Justice dropped off a few heroes, a group of colonists, and scientists to form a colony whose main purpose was to discover the secrets of the atmospheric bubble surrounding the city. The leader of the colony and lead scientist was Doctor Klaus Schöpfer a xenobiologist, who named the city and surrounding area Hortus Somnia because of the dreamlike quality of the city surrounded by serene landscapes. Years later Doctor Schöpfer’s wife Gloria while charting the dangerous off-limits area was killed by the creatures there. Her body was never recovered. Doctor Schöpfer began to show stress and odd behavior. He became very secretive and paranoid in his work and insisted that his wife was not dead but rather his fellow scientists were hiding her from him. When the colony confronted him, he shouted that he could hear the plants and animals talking to him and downed a potion he had been working on. He was quickly subdued by the local heroes and placed in holding cell for examination. That night for the first time the city was attacked by the plants and animals of the off-limits area. During the confusion Doctor Schöpfer’s cell was breached and he disappeared it was assumed that the attacking creatures killed and devoured him.

Months later Doctor Klaus Schöpfer returned as a mutated giant monster with armored skin and claws and was accompanied by the mutated plants and animals of the off-limits area. He demanded that his wife Gloria be brought to him while attacking the city. “Bring Gloria to me”, “Gloria, I have come for you“, “Gloria!” Meh, something like that. suggest large creepy writing. The heroes were able to completely destroy Doctor Schöpfer only to have him return later having been completely regenerated in the off-limits area.

Wild West World

As the title suggests, a world that has roughly 1890's level of technology. Plus magic, Steampunk elements, and evil villains trying to empower themselves and/or take over the world. Think Wild Wild West with Will Smith.

Bonus points if there's a secret android faction fighting for their freedom.

Land of the Giants!

A world where everything evolved on a macro level. Huge humanoids going about their daily tasks in a modern society and we are all about 6 inches high compared to them.

Street sweeping and stopping a purse snatcher would be a whole new experience.

A Mystical World
mystical powered characters is something great anyway
but imagine, you could send them against mages or vampires, werewolfes, or even mystical gods (Olympians, North Gods, Egyptians or Indians for example) - its a little bit like in CoH with the irish Myth episodes with the Fir Bolg and the Tuatha De Danann, but there could be so much more

I for one loved the shadow shard with its breathtaking visuals but I always wanted to have ships sailing to and fro the other large land masses. So for this suggestion think Shadow Shard but with old fashion sailing ships albeit flying ones.

Nebula of the Winds (formally Nebula NGC 8220)

A high density Nitrogen Oxygen Nebula with varying sized land masses spread throughout it. Light and heat are generated by the unique properties of the Nebula, Further the unique properties of the Nebula keep it from drifting apart and keep the pressure around 14 pounds per square inch (PSIA). The Nebula maintains a perfect balance of moderate temperatures, nitrogen oxygen atmosphere, and habitable land masses. The land masses contain a unique mono-gravitic element that allows even the smallest land mass full gravity on one side while displaying none on the other. The location of the nebula, while known for hundreds of years was only explored, accidentally, by the FHS Liberty 74 years ago. Until then its unique properties were totally unknown. Human scientists and archaeologists have theorized that the Nebula was terraformed well over a million years ago by immensely powerful aliens, and then seeded with beings from all corners of the galaxy. Scientists have only been able to map a small fraction of the nebula but have theorized that the Nebula could easily support hundreds of thousands of times the current human population, but because of it’s diffused nature it would be impossible to defend. Thus, the unique properties of the Nebula are considered to be TS FHEO (Top Secret (TS) For Hero Eyes Only (FHEO)).

Image
Image
Image

Population

The Nebula is populated by a vast array of alien species. Every species that mankind has so far encountered is represented in the Nebula including a bunch that have not been encountered. Suggest that if this zone does come to pass we have any new alien species that we encounter out in space placed in the zone as their primitive counterparts on sailing ships months prior to our first encounters in space. Some natives come from Terran stock. The inhabitants of the nebula seem to have stalemated at around the 1400 - 1500’s European level of technology. They have produced unique wood and brick cities and ports, and using the unique properties of the nebula they have fashioned wooden sailing ships that allow them to fly across the void to other land masses - to colonize, form empires, and wage war. Many of the islands within a single empire are connected with primitive rope suspension bridges.

Language

The FHS Liberty learned the local language and have produced the translator microbe program that allows Humans to understand local speech. However there seems to be a glitch in the programming while the translator microbes make their language understandable it comes out as pirate talk. The crew of the FHS Justice are pretty sure whomever programmed them from the FHS Liberty did so as a joke. I thought I would throw in some ship rivalry between the Great ships, nothing that would harm the other ships, but one that would tweak their noses a bit. Having every native talk like a pirate in a particular zone would be one of those nose tweaking in action.

Culture

Think of this zone a romanticized 1500s Caribbean Sea going culture. While not everyone was a pirate they were out there. Trade, and Ship to ship combat is fairly common as are raids on smaller less defended towns. Humans have decided to make as little impact on the locals as possible while they study the Nebula and have settled on an uninhabited island between the local human empire and several of the alien empires.

Local Fauna

The air is filled with fish like and other flying creatures of all shapes, colors and sizes. The floating islands are abundant with strange land-bound plants and animals. Multi-colored Schools of fish can be seen flying through the islands. Some can grow to be quite large and dangerous.

Missions

Commander Hyette of the Human colony has requested the help of Heroes from the FHS Justice. Local pirates have been plundering trade ships from the local indigenous empire.

First Mission – Save that Cargo – Your job is to ensure that the next cargo ship of food makes it to the human colony. Upon completion of the mission you earn a temporary power. Temporary Rowboat Power the TRB produces a rowboat that non-fliers can use to travel from island to island while in the Nebula of the Winds. I hope you have a strong back and arms. You are directed to travel to the nearest city of the local indigenous empire.

Fleet Commander Lloyd of the loyal Florean Empire: Avast stranger, I heard tails on how ye stopped th' pirates from takin yer cargo ship, 'n I was mighty impressed. I would like t' hire ye t' crush th' local pirates. I 'ave a ship fer ye if ye can defeat th' pirate scum.

First Mission – I be needin a crew – Go to the local watering holes and hire crew for your ship. Once you are fully crewed, name your ship and set sail.

Second Mission – One man’s pirate is another man’s privateer – hunt and destroy 3 pirate ships. Once you have defeated three pirate ships the ship is yours to keep. You pay your crew from the plunder of the pirate ships you defeated.

Giant Monster

The Obliteration Beast. A shark of immense proportions wrecking havoc on local shipping. Surrounded by smaller great white sized sharks .

Incredibly well thought idea there Golden Ace, and fits within the lore brilliantly. I'd love to see that.

Some less thought through ideas:

1. Volcanic planet - lava streams and fiery debris raining from the sky all the time, just to add extra fun to the usual fights. You get warning of incoming dangers, and can lure enemies into their path if good timing and planning.

2. Gas giant - confined to floating platforms with vertigo-inducing bridges between them. Missions can involve damaged areas that are close to collapse.

Thank you.

I like the gas giant idea. The Gas Giant platforms could be used for dust mining, and could be an important part of the lore. not sure where Dust comes from, but that could answer the question.

Well besides my "Gods World", where you could meet and beat (nice word play, sorry couldn´t resist ;) ) so mythological gods I would have two more ideas

Water World: A world where Air Breathers have built there plattforms (which are usable for us) but are in conflict with the native population which lives in the Waters and do not like, what the Air Breathers do to their planet

Ice World: Is a pain in question of programming, so I do not really expect anything, but still I wanted to mention it. A planet covered in ice gives a complete diferent hang in question of fighting (you slide into an attack or you slide when you fire or hit - you also have reflections and sun to take into account - the temperature would certainly work for very special type of monsters.

Of course as always if something sounds interesting I could always picture my ideas out more detailed :)

Background

Unobtanium is the rarest and most vital substance in the known universe, and how it is obtained is the closest held secret of every space going species. Every space going species has found a way to obtain Unobtanium through commerce, raids, or other highly secretive means. Rumors abound about how other species obtain their Unobtanium. It has been said that Unobtanium can be found in anti-matter universes where if you are lucky you can find a rift, and if you are even luckier it is possible to collect tons of the stuff if you don’t explode by hitting a stray antimatter particle before returning with your prize. Some alien species entire cultures have changed in order to obtain Unobtanium for instance it is rumored that several species follow and hunt Space Whales to harvest Unobtanium from their digestive track. Then there are the rumors that some of the more advanced species can manufacture or transmute baser substances into Unobtanium, or the rumors that some species make deals with beings from higher or lower planes of existence to get their Unobtanium.

Behemoth - a Jovian Giant in the Kapteyn system located approximately 13 light years from Earth

Introduction

Commander Plasma of the Behemoth Gold Mining facility: This is a Gold mining facility we sift the clouds of Jovian Giants for Heavy metals such as gold, and sell them on the open market. If anyone starts a rumor that this is in fact a Unobtanium operation I’ll personally burn your head to cinders and throw your body over the side of a balcony into the Jovian winds. We mine Gold here. IS THAT CLEAR?

Missions

Commander Plasma of the Behemoth Gold Mining facility: Behemoth has 7 moons, each of which has been transformed into a fortress with energy cannons big enough to make a hero ship hesitate. We have lost contact with Moons 3 and 6 ‘Grumpy’ and ‘Sneezy ‘ I have a task force hitting Sneezy right now. I need you to check out Grumpy. I suggest you take several other Heroes from the FHS Justice with you.

Upon arrival you get the Grumpy badge. You encounter robotic opponents. Kill all missions. You discover a partial code that could be causing the robots to turn violent. Return to Plasma and inform her of your findings.

Commander Plasma of the Behemoth Gold Mining facility: Great work. I’ll have my people look into the code. I need you to go to Sneezy, my task force has not reported in.

Upon arrival you get the Sneezy badge. Rescue members of the previous task force and kill all robotic opponents. You collect the final part of the rogue code. Return to Commander Plasma

Commander Plasma of the Behemoth Gold Mining facility: Good work, if I had a couple more of you I could take weekends off. The code you found will enable us to counter the rogue program. Go to each of the remaining moons and activate the main counsel so my people can upload coeds to prevent this from happening again. Travel to the remaining moons at each moon upon arrival you will get the Bashful, Dopey, Happy, Sleepy and Doc badges - Upon entering the final moon you will also receive the Seven Dwarfs Accolade . Robots in Happy will be beginning to act strange and you will have a battle in the control room the quicker you activate the main counsel the sooner the battle will be over.

Behemoth Gold Mining facility

The Behemoth Gold Mining facility has seven platforms that mine Behemoth's atmosphere. It has a main platform surrounded by 6 smaller platforms. The platforms are connected by spokes, and catwalks allowing people access. Prior to going out personnel must don force field belts to combat the extreme pressure of the Jovian atmosphere. Each belt will allow you several minutes in the Jovian atmosphere prior to needing to be replaced. Replacement belts can be found in each of the hubs near the catwalks. Without the belt players will take damage every tick.

Image

Giant Monster

Behemothen Medusa - Extremely large Jellyfish like creatures that live within the atmosphere of Behemoth. The deeper you go the larger they get. Medusa’s bodies are masters of biochemical energy. They come in three types distinguished by their color. They attack with their tentacles which can do a tremendous amount of damage and stun their targets at the same time. The damage done depends on the color of the Medusa. Red Medusa’s will burn their prey, Blue Medusa’s will freeze them, while Yellow Medusa’s will electrocute their prey.

Commander Plasma of the Behemoth Gold Mining facility: Unfortunately, our gold mining operations occasionally disturbs the Medusa’s that live just below this level of Behemoth’s atmosphere. Their tentacles pack quite a punch and if one catches you it will wrap itself around you, do damage, and stun you which it will continue to do every 20 seconds or so until you escape or destroy the tentacle that has you. If you come across one I highly recommend you take out the tentacles first before taking on its body. If enough tentacles wrap around you they can keep you stunned indefinitely.

Defeat the Medusa to prevent it from pulling apart the station. Remember to keep your belts on.

Badges

The Behemoth badge located on top of the main station.
Bashful, Dopey, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy and Doc badges are located on each of the planets moons.
The Seven Dwarfs Accolade obtained after you earned the Bashful, Dopey, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy and Doc badges.
Red Jellyfish Badge obtained when you defeat the Red Medusa.
Blue Jellyfish Badge obtained when you defeat the Blue Medusa.
Yellow Jellyfish Badge obtained when you defeat the Yellow Medusa.
Medusa Master Badge obtained when you defeat all three types of Medusa.

any suggestions are welcome.
