New Ship Level Events

Postby Hadder » Mon Jan 30, 2017 1:28 pm

Hi All,

I was reading up on the ship levels (20) that will be part of the FHS Justice. I was curious if new ship level events were being, or have been, tossed around yet?

It's likely too early for suggestions but I thought I would toss this out there for feedback.

Ship Levels

Add more ship levels as the game progresses. As the game progresses and ramps up, have specific planetary stops required to "add" a new ship level to the FHS Justice. Perhaps, start with a smaller number of levels (10-15) and have new levels added to the ship around every 4-6 months or so by stopping at a planet for a "retrofit"?

You could then have week(s) long events associated with this:

FHS Justice Status

Shields are down during retrofitting a new level module and the ship armour is compromised along the connector between the new section and the existing ship, allowing for infiltration and sabotage from within and without.

Retrofit Events

The retrofit would lead to heightened security presence, construction issues and missions, such as, carrying supplies to construction sites, repairing cranes, using powers to help with construction. We would have to protect power systems from breakdowns/failures and key locations related to adjoining new level modules from infiltration and sabotage.

Alien Incursion Events

Aliens that hate us won't just sit back and allow us to grow in power, they will invade and attempt to destroy the new additions to the FHS Justice before we can complete retrofitting. This can lead to one-time week(s) long events with the heroes attempting to repel Alien attacks and stop sabotage.

Purging invaders and Anti-Justice Saboteurs Events

Even if we manage to attach a new level module, Aliens and saboteurs will attempt to hide in the new level and the existing level the new module was attached to. This can lead to missions to purge invaders and seek out saboteurs who tried to stop our advancement. Maybe even quest chains leading to accomplices or even aliens that have been hidden as one of us for years.

Just random thoughts on how new levels can be added and turned into events that players could reminisce and talk about long after.

Thanks!

Thank you for your ideas. It's obvious you have put some time into thinking about the Justice as a setting.

@Hadder I really like the idea of retrofits for the FHS Justice. This alone would add a multitude of new mission content, maybe even planet-side missions while the Justice is docked. There are no end to the possibilities.
:D If it ain't broke, don't fix it! :D

I was thinking about how the ship was laid out for the events.

If we went by the number of LEVELS the ship has from the video. It has 20 levels. I am expecting some of these levels to be Hazard Zones. There might be some levels that you can't get to at the start or even after a year of playing as they will lead to future events. You also have to think of outer space events and events on other ships (think boarding events for space pirates).

Looking at some of those ideas, I can see multiple event types surrounding each. If I may:
FHS Justice Status

Shields are down during retrofitting a new level module and the ship armour is compromised along the connector between the new section and the existing ship, allowing for infiltration and sabotage from within and without.
This could be an external mission on the surface of the ship. You can keep it to certain areas based on the level of the characters. The lower the level, the further down on the ship they are stationed and the lower the level of enemies. It would be a guard event with the heroes guarding the airlocks on the outside of the ships from alien invasion forces. The forces would ramp up to an Archvillain-level character. You could even include aerial combat against landing ships to destroy them before they disgorge their ships or to stop a wave of enemies from spawning.

Engines went down and you need to venture into the storage areas. This could be a special event or part of a storyline/taskforce. Something isn’t right, though, because areas need to be repressurized before you can go into them. What’s waiting at the end of the TF? It appears that a microbe was being enhanced by the unobtanium and radiation from the engine into something new and definitely-not-in-any-way-related-to-Hamidon (*wink*), but it escaped after it is defeated. Where did it go? Well, you now have a new zone opened on the outside of the ship for a Hamidon-style raid to put it down!

You’re high level at the front of the ship when you receive an alert from Apotheosis City. You get a team together and head down to the beginner level, but things are different. The sky hologram is off, there is no power, and the people are all missing. On top of that, your travel powers don’t seem to work. Throughout the dark and spooky level, you are attacked by strange aliens that are completely dark and attack with power-draining attacks. Who is behind this? The closer you get to the Arch, the more you notice that there is something inside of it that is almost filling it. Is it a giant monster? Is it a portal? You don’t know, but you do know it is a threat to the ship.

How about these:

Alien Invasion?
Something has breached the shields and attached itself to the hull of the ship. You need to get into a team and go check it out. When you arrive, you see a hot-spot on the hull where the ship is burning through. The hull is breached and aliens begin flooding into the zone. You attack them and they shoot back. However, it takes you a while to realize that they only shoot back if you attack them first. They don’t seem to be invading, but are running away from something. After a certain number get in without being attacked, you hear something coming from the hole. It sounds huge. It breaks through the already weakened hull and to are faced with a giant monstrosity the likes of which you have never seen.

Level 13
According to the ship’s registry there is no Level 13. You hear about it in rumors and fairy tales used to scare children. “Be a good boy or you’ll be sent to Level 13.” It is something that the security forces joke about and the public view as just an old spacer’s tale. But the truth is far more disturbing.

There actually was a Level 13 installed on the Justice. It was meant as a research level. The entire level was one huge scientific laboratory with the scientists and their families living there. Not only was it meant for testing biological materials from the extents of human space, but also for testing hero powers under different conditions. However, there was a problem. One of the biological samples was not what the scientists thought it was. It infected them and turned them into something else. Security and Medical both responded to the emergency, but they were never heard from again. The leader of the last team of heroes to go into the sector sent one last message amid the screams of her teammates: “Seal off and eject; they’re all dead.”

In truth, the entire level is full of zombies. But, are they really zombies? The closer you get to the main science hub, the more powerful they get. What’s in the science hub? Is it the hive mind behind the attack or something else?
