I think it was pretty dark at night. If we had super-powered light powers, it would be ok. What do you think?

I picked the moon light option.

But that being said, depending how powers look at night I may be happy with the way it was.

In the shadows and down in the park I could not see my or my husbands hero. For those places there should be some kind of illumination. But in the streets it was just right.

Thanks to all who responded to the poll.

It looks like there is an opportunity to be creative with moonlight :D

I'd go for multiple smaller moons at night, with shifting faint light sources. Or else, maybe a moon whose light is controlled by a faction, or a guild.

The Purple Guild has the Purple Moon tonight.

I think the lighting is alright if the players are provided with some possible ways of constantly lighting their surroundings (auras, summons) Otherwise, the unlighted areas are too dark.

One thing to consider (and this is an idea with a lot of drawbacks, don't think I actually support it but it is an idea) would be having some global environmental effects during the dark as well, and probably a balancing effect for day. Something minor. Having night be scary and different would be more interesting.

One thing to remember is that we set the night during the Login Tests to arrive like every 15 minute, rather than perhaps every two hours. Then we gave each of our devs a command to jump forward by 60 minutes with a key stroke.

So we ended up with the day/night moving very, very fast. One implication of this is that some people did not see the darkest of dark...time of day might have been jumped past that part.

And another implication is that some people experienced the deep dark, but only for a minute or so. what if it was 10 minutes long?

Personally I think it was too dark during the deep dark. And that deep dark was a new "bug" that wrote itself into the script during the last two days anyway.

That's probably what happened with me. I honestly didn't think it was too dark during the night. I kind of thought that it could use more darkness.

Raises a questioning hand warily Ahh... Can't the player adjust their Gama if the game gets too dark? Oh sure, they might need sunglasses for daytime playing, but then who doesn't use sunglasses outside anyway? 👍 :lol:

Yes they can adjust screen brightness.

In fact I often test with another dev near me, and the other screen is a lot darker than mine.

I loved it just as is. Now, the amount of light fires, street lamps, things like that put off, would have made all the difference in the world.
