Whats in a name?

Postby kinglucus » Wed Mar 29, 2017 4:58 am

After seeing what characters everyone had in past games, what is everyone going to call their first character in SoH? I'm torn between recreating an old character or starting off with a whole new one.

An Inv/SS Tank named GladStrike
A Weapons specialist Devastator named Gladzooka

If they have beast/alien bodies I will not be able to resist the urge to make a fire breathing lizard head hero named Gladzilla. "Oh no, there goes Tokyo, there goes Gladzilla! Heyeyey...." btw, I saw Blue Oyster Cult in concert in the 70's. 20 minutes of Godzilla! Woo!

And two others that are secret! :D

I'll recreate my Inv/SS Tank I played in CoH. I've always been a fan of the archtype and I've been tanking since Ultima Online, so why stop now?

A bullet may have a name on it, but 20 pounds of C4 is more of a "to whom it may concern."

Hmm. That's a tough call. I usually spend a ridiculous amount of time playing about with a character creator then try to find a name that fits whatever I've ended up with :?

I always have two standard characters in any kind of RPG or game where it's possible -

Ebon Angel - assassin/vampiric melee fighter
Harlequynne - trickster/illusion-based mage

I'll be starting up a new character as my main. I used to go as Lady Large Bottom, but it was one I came up with specifically for CoH, and I never really did much with her concept.

Now though, I've got Bichon, a villain character I've been monkeying around with for the past few years that I've been dying to play. I'll probably have to wait a while for her though, as we probably won't have minions straight out of the gate

Going to remake my Ice/Ice Blaster. Complete with Arnold tier pun macros for all my abilities.

Prepare to cringe. :D

I claim absolutely no credit for this, it was another player's, but I still think it's one of the best pun-based names ever. The hero was a cyborg recreation of a famous composer, using the sonic powersets: Amadeus Ex Machina

Genius :P

Well I had a lot accounts, and a lot of characters whose names I would like to reclaim, but I also have a list of names I never got to use also.

Still, I see my inv/ss "superman" tank being recreated, a couple of my controllers, and a blaster.

After that I'll wait for new archetypes and power sets.

Also hoping that one day we would get something equivalent to the Kheldians. I miss my PB and WS.

I think from the past few years i have had many different characters on many games and so instead of reusing the ones that I normally use i think i'm going to try something new and base it around the characters play style, power sets and perhaps even a signature power that i may use quite often.

Wow, good question! Well, to start with, I had numerous toons in CoHV on all servers and quickly incurred brain trauma trying to come up with a name I was content with every time I wanted to create a new toon. So, I started using a toon nomenclature using Origin, Archetype, Primary & Secondary powers plus numbering. For example, if I wanted to create a Mutation Scrapper with Dark Melee and Regen power sets (first one), the name would go as follows: MUSC01DMRG01.

If this was my second DM Regen scrapper but with a different origin (say Technology, again first one), it would be: TESC01DMRG02.

The nomenclature naming looked kind of weird at first, but, I did get used to seeing it.

Sorry, but I saw that first, before reading the explanation, and was like, "Why would you name you character after a UK supermarket chain?"

Um.. You saw what first? In any case, I don't live in the UK and wouldn't know about supermarkets there, and, this format for naming works for me and that's what matters.
