I voted mildly positive. I'm not in love with in game puzzles, but I do like them as distractions, as long as they don't have a major effect on successful quest completions. In other words, as long as a puzzle is solvable without jeopardizing a quest, but can lead to a better reward, I like them.

I always' liked the in game puzzle aspects of games. Jump puzzles, secret rooms, or a puzzle in a mission instead of just killing everything.

This.

As long as puzzles aren't too hard to solve or when solving them in the course of a mission leads to either bigger/different rewards or a different/special ending then I'm all for them.

I really dislike puzzles in MMOs. The last MMO I played had them, but luckily there were approved plugins to answer them without user intervention. I suppose for some it adds immersion, but it's not for me. I like to switch my brain off when playing games.

I like the idea of puzzles, it adds variety. However, I don't want to have to be the Riddler to complete a mission, so hopefully the puzzles are solvable (I like the idea of a special ending or temporary reward for puzzle solving)

I'd rather chew thumbtacks than solve a puzzle, swim in hot cooking oil than solve a puzzle, get sprayed by a skunk than solve a puzzle...I hope you can see how I feel about puzzles given my very rational alternatives to them.

I think they should be irrelevant for gameplay. I don´t mind extras for those who like things like that (on contrary everyone might have noticed by now, that I am always for including everyones taste when possible) but if they are around that should be like special missions for those who want them who do not play any role in the greater picture and should also be recognizable as such (like you need to go to certain contacts who communicate that this is a Detectives Work or something like that and only at those Missions given by those contacts, you can have puzzles :) ). When done that way I believe they actually can enrich the game :)

I don't like them in MMO's, especially if they're like those awful jumping puzzles in GW2. One missed jump, or unavoidable lag spike, and you're right back where you started or dead.

Most puzzles are fine. Jumping puzzles on the other hand can DIAF.

I like the idea of a puzzle element. I think CoH lacked this to some extent. If missions could give you clues and you have to figure out the final building to go to to finish the mission, I would really get into something like that.

I enjoy puzzles in single player games, or in multiplayer games where everyone is seeing it for the first time. The design challenge in MMOs is how to make it fun for the person looking at it for the nth time. Then to make it fun for both the first timer and the nth timer when they are grouped together.

My interactions with puzzle elements in MMORPGs haven't been stellar. Usually, there's unclear information, missing detail, lousy visual clue, an incredibly limited interpretation of the solution, etc. and the player ends up stumbling around blindly hoping to find what they're looking for. In my experience they also glitch terribly - restarting a puzzle and navigating them anytime I've played an MMORPG that had them was generally a nightmare. So while I'm not averse to puzzles in general, I'm hesitant about their viability in a MMORPG.
