Who Wants to Play with the CCT?

OK, so we need a name for what you guys asked us to do -- allow people to jump into the CCT and the city during the coronavirus lockdown. We're going to start letting people into the game as we see it as devs, each day.

Which means it is not a highly polished Beta, it is the current version with just a few things shut off. There may be a few bugs, especially on some of the new or transferred costume pieces.

So the first thing we need are 20-30 volunteers who want to go in and find problems for us, before we open it up even wider.

And there will be a few issues. But we may start tonight or tomorrow with this coronavirus support event. :)

So who wants in? If you do, send us a contact form with your email address (don't post it here).

On the good side, this should be something you can do with your kids, if needed. They can be involved in the design of a new character.

I received a question about what it costs to participate.

This is not a true Beta, just something fun to help the community when they are stuck at home, or otherwise stressed with the current situation. But we do think it will be fun, as long as people are tolerant of the occassional problem.

So we have "Pandemic Pricing."

In other words, it's free.

But if you can help with a donation, we always welcome those. :)

For those that have requested to play with the cct.

What might be the estimated date to receive an email letting us know we are accepted?

And when we are accepted. Those that have recently donated; I suspect we will eventually receive an email with a link and a key?

Just curious.

Keep it super everyone.

We're making progress on this, and we have a server rented, etc. Many, many fixes are in, but we need a bit more time to get it all set up and running, and our lead coder needs some sleep at the moment.

There is a good chance we will let the first volunteers have a look this evening or tomorrow. Then if it all works more or less as planned, we will put out a newsletter to everyone and let the rest of the community in to play.

As it stands now, there are more things to see and to do:

1. Many new costume pieces (with a few bugs we need to fix)
2. New CCT features like two colorwheels to test, new, alien/elf ears, hand and feet morphs, etc.
3. There are a few enemies on the map, so watch out...they are higher level than you.
4. There are ambushes on the map too, so be prepared to run or fight.
5. We have some test crates for crafting materials you can click...yes, there will be crafting in the game but we have an early prototype working now. There's a crafting table somewhere...
6. Day/night is working again.
7. There are some capes in now, and a couple of auras.
8. The new powersets, some untested and not polished, are in.

There are actually a lot of new things. We think we have turned off the first set of missions...we have to have something to show later in the year, after all!

So when you get in, go ahead and have fun. This is not a regular Beta, so much as a gift to the community -- something for people to do that is fun, with your kids if you want. For most of you, this is the first, perhaps the only time you will ever roam around, unimpeded on a developer map. Other games don't seem to allow this sort of thing. But we thought it would give you a laugh, and we can all use one more laugh.

"A Ship of Heroes comes to battle the evil COVID-19 Empire?"

Sunday morning, eastern US time:

Here's the latest: we have a new bug that causes some people to crash when they log in.

Once we can solve this, we can begin the Event.

But, our lead coder has been working for 16 hours straight to try to solve this and needs some sleep. Also, he told me he is feeling kind of sick...let's hope that is mild and not Covid-19.

So, maybe we can get this show on the road Monday or Tuesday. Sorry for the delay, but this is real life. We're showing the game as it actually is (fully trtansparent). And starting it as soon as we can.

We'll be sending out instructions to jump into the game in waves, so if we have another issue or two, we can stop and fix it before we are overwhelmed by cusomter service calls. We have a few of us on CS, and some of our family members as well, so we want to keep calls to a controllable minimum.

But I will post an update on what is happening here, at least once per day, until we get going. So buckle up, we are planning to get this show on the road.

Monday morning, eastern US time:

We've fixed quite a few little things, but we still have the crash bug. An attempted solution yesterday was not successful, but did give us some insights. We're still working on it.

Our intent is to start the community event as soon as we have solved this last bug, by inviting people to join, in waves. We will begin with the people who submitted contact us forms asking to be let in first, then we'll send out invitations in waves assuming we see that everything works.

Stay tuned!

UI won't save when you log out, you always lose your 2nd tray.

Crashing after:

follow up to deliver weapons to science park to officer bryant.

Random crashes when fighting. Not sure how to help here.

Yes, if you were following our small saga, you know we found a new "crash bug" two days ago. Somehow it is related to saving the extra power trays.

We opted to start the event and let the trays disappear each time. Sorry about that. We will get that fixed, but right now we are focused on sending the emails to 14,000 people and helping them solve login problems.

Ok, scratch that - since I can't delete this message I'll just update it. The email address change worked. The verification email just took *ages* to arrive so I assumed something went wrong. Sorted now :)

That is awesome.

This whole event was just a wild idea in the mond of one of our marketing guys a week ago.

So we've been racing along, trying to make it happen. I'm pretty sure we never thought about what would happen if someone need to change the email associated with thier forum account.

Good job!
