I believe subscriptions can be setup through PayPal.We will absolutely set something up to allow donations, and probably expand the options over time. We think we will get feedback from all of you as to what you'd like to see, and there's no real reason to suppose that all of the most brilliant ideas will emerge in the first week, so we are thinking we will just set up a system that tracks how much each person has given, including funds given in their name.
That way, if (just for example) $100 given nets you one month of the super-temp-power "Glowie Cape" at launch, it won't matter if that was three different contributions over 14 months -- you get the cape.
My goodness, I just wrote "moths" instead of "months." Not again...
Wow, this is brilliant! The demo of the character creator has already shown how enormously complex creating the look of an NPC can be. Why should the dev team waste their own time in creating NPCs when they can just ask dedicated supporters like us who can crank out dozens of NPCs upon request?!Hey Consultant... may I say again what has all ready been said earlier in the forms... start a alpha subscription to the character creator for us to play with. My wife ( the wonderful and supportive "Penniguin" ) has suggested that we help you the dev. team make the NPC characters and summitt then to the Dev. team for evaluation and/or use ... this would free up your team from having to make 1000's of npc toons to walk around apotheosis.
WE are willing to pay a subscription price 10-15$ each month ( 30$ for a couple) on top of the Starter donation well be giving you when you have the account program set up. " let US... your community help you!!! " Let the Bright stars ahead Guide your journey" ( a space ship metaphor )
I could afford this and would love creating costumes and characters, even if we can't really play them.Wow, this is brilliant! There are quite a few of us who would pay for the privilege of using the character creator to produce NPCs as needed by the dev team so that the dev team doesn't have to focus or rather, get lost/distracted, on creating their own NPCs.
I can already imagine it now...
Dev team posts: We need 3 different generic security guard NPCs, humanoid, male only, human-sized, color emphasis on dark blue.
Character Creation Cadre (CCC) [People who paid to have access to the character creator]: We're on it!
Dev team likely gets dozens of submissions and sorts through the characters and selects whatever they like best. Creator of the character used gets recognition via official credits or perks (one month free sub). Of course, add the usual legal disclaimer: Just because you contributed assets to the game doesn't mean you can claim payment.
*RINSE AND REPEAT*
It would literally be the dev team selecting "stock models" from people who paid from their own pocket to create them.
Really, if you had a couple hubs with mission doors scattered about to start, that would be enough. Something like:Wow, we have a good community here. Thank you all.
This was a tough couple of days for us, but the most important thing we need to decide, and all of you should think about this too, is what would make a great (smaller) version of SoH to launch. We're working up a list right now after several brainstorming sessions.
We always start with our core: great character customization; wide powers selection; teaming; friendly community; and lots of bad guys to fight. Instanced missions, obviously leveling and badges...there is a lot that must be in the game.
But we don't really want to decide -- we want to hear what you guys think.![]()
THIS would get you funds immediately. Twilight Avengers (Wulfman, et al) would be all over this. I've been looking on a couple of MMO review sites. There are SO many swords and sorcery MMORPGs. Even a "Foyer" for a hero game would generate interest. Why not start with the same thing COH had ?
The "starter zone" introduced you to your hero. You ran around a few blocks of an instanced world killing stuff and gaining a few levels (maybe 3?..I'm sorry it has been a while). Then you were transported to Atlas Park to begin your adventure.
Why not give us ...
1. Character creator to play with
2. "Starter Zone"...its only a few levels but man...I could spend a lot of time playing there!!
3. An "Atlas Park" zone. Meet and build our community.
It does not have to have enemies in the "atlas Park" zone at first. A meeting place to talk and build our community would do wonders for people waiting for our world to be built. This would give supporters a way to reserve "names" / "characters"..
There are A LOT of people waiting and watching with "money in hand" for a game that gives them the feeling they had when they played COH. Giving them this would bring many more to our community.
If I knew that my funds were going to building the game (and a few posters have brought up the idea of donations being additive , which would be great!!) I would EAGERLY pay a monthly fee for this.
