I agree with healing badges. But support characters are not just about healing. It would be nice to have a "damage prevented" badge for those characters that do defense or resist buffs.

Yes, exactly.

And a "controller" type character probably never has to heal itself and may never deal damage.
A game’s graphics are meant to appeal. A game’s mechanics are meant to make you feel amazing or challenged. A game’s sound effects are supposed to add life. But a good game’s UI is meant to disappear!

I added mitigated damage badges to my list. I think this is probably going to be the hardest one to figure out how it works but I’m not a programmer so… this goes under other people’s problems 😄

I think this all fits under the can of worms category. How does Defense fit in this? If there are 3 defense buffs on a tank and the next swing misses, how do you divide the mitigation, defender 1, 2, 3 or the player's personal defense? What about to-hit debuff? What about something like Moment of Glory? This all goes way beyond just resisting damage.

Healing is simple; the healer casts a 200 point heal, and it hits 5 people. Tada! 1000 points of healing.

Everything should be character specific except for anniversary or special badges.

Character only
Location badges
Zone badges for getting all the location badges in a zone.
Damage done badges
Damage taken badges
Healing given badges
Healing Recieved badges
Money / Dust earned badges
Money / Dust spent badges
Debt badges (die enough you should be rewarded for it)
Event badges (Ski slopes pocket D, Christmas packages collected etc...)
Kill badges for each enemy type (100, 1,000, 10,000 etc. ) the more you kill the more they hate you and will send ambushes after you.
Seasonal badges
Crafting Badges
Completing special missions (Certain iconic mission should have badges)
Defeating special monsters
Day job badges (at least 3... or even 5 for each job)
Team badges
Supergroup badges.
Collection badges (get 10 badges and get your first collection badge)
Mitigated damage badges

Account wide
Anniversary badges
Special badges given out by the devs (Bug reporting etc...)
Good list. The only part I would change would be to make event and seasonal badges account wide instead, because some developers don't repeat events.

Another thing. I would like to see an optional supergroup badge notification. If you get a badge, your whole supergroup is notified. "Apparition just earned the Saved the Ship badge!" or something. Of course, it should be optional so people can disable it in their preferences, but it would be a neat way to build comradery within a supergroup.

I just want to give a quick update on badges.

We have a badge system in the game now, coded and working.

That's the good news. In the CCT Beta, you'll be able to collect a few badges as well.

We do not have all of the types of badges set up at the moment -- I think we have six types as of today. And somewhere between 12 and 20 are obtainable during the Beta. In retrospect, I probably should have looked up an exact number before making this post. :)

But we are building in the direction discussed in this thread, and the current system works. And to be frank, we love to be able to report something like this. Another little piece clicking into place.

This means there will be something else that the community can give us feedback on. We're pretty sure you will all have ideas about badges.
