Let's Talk About Badges

We'd like to know what achievements in game should earn badges, and whether you prefer to have account-wide badges for certain acheivements or character-specific badges.

Let loose with your opinions!

Everything should be character specific except for anniversary or special badges.

Character only
Location badges
Zone badges for getting all the location badges in a zone.
Damage done badges
Damage taken badges
Healing given badges
Healing Recieved badges
Money / Dust earned badges
Money / Dust spent badges
Debt badges (die enough you should be rewarded for it)
Event badges (Ski slopes pocket D, Christmas packages collected etc...)
Kill badges for each enemy type (100, 1,000, 10,000 etc. ) the more you kill the more they hate you and will send ambushes after you.
Seasonal badges
Crafting Badges
Completing special missions (Certain iconic mission should have badges)
Defeating special monsters
Day job badges (at least 3... or even 5 for each job)
Team badges
Supergroup badges.
Collection badges (get 10 badges and get your first collection badge)
Mitigated damage badges

Account wide
Anniversary badges
Special badges given out by the devs (Bug reporting etc...)

The Kill badges should include a small damage bonus. So killing 100 gives a 1% damage bonus vs the specified bad guy, the 1000 badge gives 2%, 10,000 gives 3%, and so on up to a max of 5%, which would require killing 1 million of that type of bad guy.

I agree with the above suggestions, including character specific badges (accept for anniversary). I also like ones for defeating special monsters and for completing unique missions and mission arcs. It would also be nice to have badges for crafting once it is added.

Well in this case we have to think off all support roles in the game. Every archetype who can`t do enough damage should be considered.

And this idea came just into my mind: Team and Supergroup badges for doing 5,10,25,50,100 quests together.
A game’s graphics are meant to appeal. A game’s mechanics are meant to make you feel amazing or challenged. A game’s sound effects are supposed to add life. But a good game’s UI is meant to disappear!

Let's say we have a healing badge. Should my character who can't heal get that badge? Or should it be limited to only the character that did the healing?

Same for damage. If I have a damage dealer, and he gets the badge, should my healer who doesn't do much damage also get the badge?

I personally think they don’t get the badge. If you want to get a healing badge then you need to get into the healing power pool.

Play a character long enough and you will get the damage badges.

Personally I think all the badges should be open to anybody who can earn them. That obviously means some other way of healing will be needed for damage dealers, maybe devices of some sort (even if it was just a self heal) but it'll still take them a long time to get the badge and the same for support characters, they should be able to get the damage dealing badges regardless of the amount of time it takes them.

if a character has no way of healing at all then it can't get the badge. That's a choice - as long as there are options available of course.

I agree with healing badges. But support characters are not just about healing. It would be nice to have a "damage prevented" badge for those characters that do defense or resist buffs.
