to Identities and beyond!

Postby Ravynwynd » Sun Oct 21, 2018 11:39 am

I have not seen this in a super hero game "YET"-

Standard Issue Default

Global Name
Characters Hero Name

Can the Devs add, Secret Identity Name?

Let's have Ship of Heroes be the FIRST to provide Secrete Identity Name.

Global Name
Characters Hero Name
Characters Secret Identity Name

Secret Identity Costume slot changes the name.
Hero Costume slot changes the name.

An Example:
Psychodelic Mary
Mary St. James

* small print side question:

Please permit periods and hyphens with character names.

Dunno if the secret ID thing is gonna fly tbh.

At one point, it was put out that we heroes do not hide our identities any more as we are majorly celebrated/accepted.

In fact there are two statues in the beginning city of the last two masked heroes.

...least that is far as I can recall as true.

This ofc doesn't mean one can not role play with a secret identity. There are those that will never give it up...Rorschach from Watchmen comes to mind. When the rest gave up there mask and/or came out as hero, he kept his id secret and active.
...reporting in.

Maybe the name wouldn't have to be a secret identity name. It could just be your character's given name, the name used when you're doing your day job or not doing heroic missions. Then you have your hero name for hero activities. I like the idea of tying plain clothes to the normal name and your costume to the hero name. However, the normal name should be optional for those who are a hero all the time or whose name is the same for hero and for their day job(the extra slot should still be available though).

As Red5 stated, the intention of the game is that secret identities are not needed. If someone wants to RP with a secret identity, that is up to them, but in this world heroes are highly respected and do not need the benefits of an SI to live a good life.

I still like the idea of SI no matter how respected they are with the general populace. It's not them I'm worried about. its the people I regularly stop from doing bad things. If I'm stopping them from doing bad things, I know they are capable of... doing bad things. Are we saying heroes don't have families to protect? Maybe my 3 kids are "normal" and I won't want Mr Crime Lord of Murderous Evil to know they are my weakness.

I just kill them outright that way they can't look me up after they did their prison sentence.

hmm... that does sound a bit harsh, but jaywalking is a crime...

but the authorities now. they are always trying to find out who I am. for them I need a secret identity.

I'm in the camp that likes to have SI's.

However, I'm not sure what's the purpose of having three names in game. Is it for RP purposes where you change into your "civilian" alias and no one will know who your are if you kept it up?

That could be an interesting side quest/earning mechanic if done correctly. If that is what you mean of course.

Players could earn cash, badges, equipment for using their secret identities and more stuff if the longer they are able to keep their secret identities under wraps.

One Name is your Global.

One Name is your Hero.

One Name is your Heroe's Day Job Name.

So that the Villains don't know who you and your family is.
