Re: Rough Question seeking Vague Answer With No Promises: Commander Archetype & Nemesis

2. Are there any design ideas or plans (I assume post-release) to implement some kind of system (any type) where players will be able to make their own nemesis/villains? Even if just an expansion idea, I think this should get serious consideration. The Nemesis system in CO was one of the most inter...

Re: Global buffs/debuffs due to story arcs and Task Forces

I remember playing DAOC in the beginning, and when our side in RvR grabbed a relic, we'd all get a buff. It was cool learning that the senior players were out there, fighting for us. And it made me want to do it too. Yeah, I can see that. That is a cool feeling for sure, and perfectly fits the vibe...

Re: Global buffs/debuffs due to story arcs and Task Forces

Certainly an intriguing idea. I like the concept, certainly, and it would contribute to feeling "part of the team." My only question is how many different groups can people be part of eventually? If there's enough people to keep most buffs up more-or-less permanently you could find end-game players ...

Re: CCT Beta

Just watched the hospital video and WOW. I cant believe how big it is! Everything looks so beautiful, after spending so much time back in the original CoH it really shows how advanced and improved the graphics are in SoH. The lighting is perfect and the reflections are incredible. The way the chara...

Re: Which MMOs have you formerly played?

Only MMO I ever actually properly "played" was CoX. I played a couple of MUDs waaaay back in the day, but I'm keeping myself firmly on topic, since my gaming started with "Combat" on the first atari console we would be here a /very/ long time if I start listing everything :D I beta-tested Asheron's ...

Re: CCT randomizer video

Thank you -- so many artists and coders have labored over this CCT. It's incredible. Here's a question. I feel confident we should publish a video showing all of the sliders and options, even if it like 18 minutes long. But one of our marketing people told me "it's way too boring. Nothing blows up....

Loving the improvements to the CCT - costumes are looking good and I love the vibrant colour scheme. So many games these days have washed out palettes because of their settings. Can't wait to play with this :D

Re: How ship of heroes is winning the superhero race

Nice find for sure. And yeah, Consultant for sure has been phenomenal in guiding this team and community outreach. He's not doing this alone, though, and I think it's worth giving the rest of the team a shout-out too for their excellent work and dedication to this game. A lot of this is being done o...

Re: CoH greatness, one often overlooked thing done right

When i was playing on the new private server the last few days, i suddenly realized one thing that CoH did very differently then any othe MMO that i played so far. The world, the characters, the baddies... they are all kinda cheesy and cartoonish and often very exaggerated. And that is exactly how ...

Re: The Beta Club

Thinking it might be possible to jukebox In there for players just like the music that’s currently playing. Someone- I think Odee , had mentioned the possibility where you could build your own music in game. Another mmo had that. Guilty . :( Would it be possible to make a Jukebox for the ga...

Re: We have SS!!!

Superspeed needs a vertical travel option, I think that's a given. Technically the running up walls thing is usually pretty tricky - I know the unreal engine has it as a built movement type (or did the last time I worked with it anyway) but it's always a little wonky unless you specifically build yo...

Re: Happy 4th of July

I'm very impressed you have a working auction house system already. I kinda expected that to be a later rather than sooner thing, but it's a happy surprise you had the developer bandwidth to do that as well :)

Good to see a couple of updates so close together as well :P

Re: Planning Game Mechanics for Missions

So we'll have options for level-scaling, class*-scaling and team-size scaling. I must admit I can't think of any other way of scaling missions at this point. So, yeah, awesome. There's nothing I can really add to that :P Anbd, as others have said, this is actually a really cool tool for balancing re...

Re: Your Devs Ask You

Let's deal with the appropriate to the level issue first. We have to ensure that a level 1 (or team thereof) can't handle content too far out of their level range. Assuming the scaling of damage is linear between level 1 and 50 (which, unmodified, it approximately would be), a level 10 does twice as...

Re: Your Devs Ask You

The level 50 has three reasons to do more damage than the level 1. One, they have loads more augments in the powers, potentially doubling the damage output of each power. They have better powers - powers from the top of a powerset will likely have higher base damages. But three, they have more power...
