Re: Global buffs/debuffs due to story arcs and Task Forces

I remember playing DAOC in the beginning, and when our side in RvR grabbed a relic, we'd all get a buff. It was cool learning that the senior players were out there, fighting for us. And it made me want to do it too. I would expect there to be many sections of the ship, all with their own problems a...

Global buffs/debuffs due to story arcs and Task Forces

One idea I had for how some story arcs/missions might work is that if the players complete them, then everybody gets a buff or a debuff. For example, you start a story arc where you are working for the Engineering department. The missions have to do with defending the ship's engines and steering. On...

Re: Update on the CCT Beta

They had high schools back then? Here I thought it was just one room school houses in the 1800’s I actually went to a one-room schoolhouse in elementary. We had 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades in the same class with the same teacher. Each grade had a row of students, about 4-5 in each grade. When I skippe...

Re: Update on the CCT Beta

I would actually like to be able to bind/link an expression to a power. So I can show anger or concentration when launching a powerful attack. Or smile when launching an AOE attack. It would be funny if the mobs did that too. Imagine: "hey, the boss is making that face again, here comes the firebal...

Re: Types of Feedback for the CCT Beta

Since we will get to explore the ship and look for the pub, I'll bet there could be a lot of feedback about the terrain mapping, glitches, graphics improvements, etc.

The CCT beta will be testing a lot more than just the character creator.

Re: Release

One of the biggest problems any big software effort faces is "feature creep". Things keep getting added and the schedule keeps getting pushed out. It's called "creeping featurism". "Creeping featurism is a slang term used to describe a tendency for systems to become more complex over time as more fe...

Re: Need help from the RP Community

The alien ship could actually be a wandering planet or asteroid, hollowed out. That way you could even have some planetary surface PvP zones on the alien "ship".

This idea is common in science fiction.

Re: "Meat Shield" Power for Tanks?

I wouldn't want a cone that is based on the facing of the tank. It would make more sense to be to be a pbaoe of the tank, or an aura. If you are within x feet of the tanker, you are shielded, no matter what direction the tank is facing.

Re: Dont you wish all these small game companies would join forces?

This reminds me of an old Computer Science book: The Mythical Man-Month. It describes how a large software project got behind, and so they added a lot of staff to it. Progress slowed down even more. It turns out that sheer numbers of developers isn't a guarantee of success. The short version is: if ...

At least have an NPC waiter/waitress walking around selling cocktails and other, um, stimulants.

If you take too many, the graphics begin to melt on your screen

Beta club is cool, but where can I get a beer?

I'm really hoping the beta club gets fleshed out with some refreshments, maybe some pinball machines, a card table or two with card games, etc.

Are there any plans to add vendors or mini-games to the club?

Re: Update on the CCT Beta

Allowing the general public into the beta would probably make more sense as a stress test. Once the code is fairly stable, run a systems stress test to see what problems crop up with thousands or tens of thousands of players on.

For now, the closed beta is the way to go to get feedback on features.

Re: Mods

ESO doesn't have mods, they have "addons". These are bits of code, typically for the UI, that do things the game should have done at the beginning. They don't change gameplay, they just make some information available to the user in a better way. For example, inventory management. ESO has lousy inve...
