A smart patcher/updater would be nice

At my dismal download speed, it takes 8 hours to download the game. Working at home, if I pause the download to do some work, there is no way to resume the download. It would be great to have a smart patcher that could update only the files that changed, and to allow a pause and resume function. Pro...

Fantastic! no, really, Fantastic!

I've been playing the CoH restart, so this is from the perspective of someone who is playing the old CoH every day. This game, SoH, is beautiful. The city is beautiful, especially at night. I don't get that feeling very often in the old CoH. It was a blast to just run around, but then I found some e...

How about this for a name?

Re: Street Fighting Video is Live on YouTube

What I meant by not looking hero-y was the long time it took to kill the mobs. Them being higher than you so that you have time to use all your powers is the perfect explanation.

However, if I had to gripe about something, it would be that it wasn't obvious what level they were

Re: Street Fighting Video is Live on YouTube

This brought up something I've been thinking about: how hard is the game going to be? At the beginning? At the end? I remember when I first started CoH back in 2004, my ill/emp controller had one attack power, and brawl. It took forever to kill something, even at my own level. Of course, by the end,...

Re: Street Fighting Video is Live on YouTube

This looks really good. Probably the best looking video yet.

If I had to complain about something, it would be that the hero doesn't look too "heroey". The fight takes a long time to kill what I presume is 3 minions. A real superhero should be able to one-shot at least one of them.

Re: Melee Combat

One of my favorite playstyles in the old CoH was the "blapper", a blaster who also has very powerful melee attacks. Although they can be killed rather easily, blasters have a lot of damage output. Some of them also have very powerful melee attacks, although this means they have to get close to the e...

Re: The Speed of Melee Combat

I think it looks pretty good; it looks playable even in this early form. It is a mistake to compare a new game from a small indy studio to a long-running game from a large professional studio like City of Heroes. CoH is now at the top of its game, after a lot of development and tuning. The high wate...

Re: Custom Graphics

PotBS did this with sails, you can submit designs for symbols on sails and they approve it and put them into the game.

A similar question is: can we change the colors and look of the powers? The old CoH allows this.

Re: Crafting

I guess the first question to ask is: what is there to craft? Is this going to be a gear game, with armor and weapons to be crafted? Or is it like CoH where you really don't have armor and weapons, so crafting is basically for stims and enhancements? Can we craft badges? The next question is: how im...

Re: Going on 17 years

I was playing Morrowind and Baldur's Gate when Everquest came out in 1999, but I didn't want to play online. DAOC came out right after that and I took the plunge to online games. DAOC was my first MMO. I still remember getting my first 50 in DOAC, a Minstrel. And the RvR in DAOC has never been toppe...

Rumor about AMD 5nm CPU's

"AMD could launch its Zen 4 processors – which don’t represent its next-gen CPUs, but rather the generation after – as soon as 2021, according to a new rumor. This is the case according to a report from China Times (spotted by Wccftech), which claims that TSMC’s 5nm process is progressing nicely, an...

Re: Dare I say I am tired of COH?

I played CoH from when it first released to about the time AE came out. I quit because it seemed so repetitive, and I wanted something new. I was in the beta for CoV and played that for a while. I had a Warshade at 50, had a SG of all Khelds, base, etc. Now I'm dipping back into CoH, and it is still...

Re: Special Events During the CCT Beta

With my patch download, I just clicked the icon on my desktop. It took 3-4 minutes to download, no muss, no fuss. Hmm, I don't think you can expect us all to be able to download 6.6GB in 3-4 minutes! At my pathetic DL speed, it takes about 4 hours to download the whole game again. So I missed the e...
