Re: Mods

ESO doesn't have mods, they have "addons". These are bits of code, typically for the UI, that do things the game should have done at the beginning. They don't change gameplay, they just make some information available to the user in a better way. For example, inventory management. ESO has lousy inve...

Third time is the charm

There's an old Computer Science story about a student who had to re-write his class project because he lost his punch cards (it's an old story). He found that having to re-write from scratch was a different problem than starting out. He started adding all kinds of new things, since he knew how to do...

Re: True Heroism?

ESO has something like this. NPC's can take damage, and if you do the damage, you get put on the wanted list. Then any NPC guards may attack you. So you can break into someone's house, and kill them, and steal all their stuff. But if you are seen, you become an outlaw and will be attacked on sight b...

AMD also makes all the CPU/GPU's for the Playstation and XBox. Here's an interesting article on the upcoming PS5: https://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/consoles/ps5-release-date-news-and-features-1213409 3rd generation 7nm Ryzen 2, with Navi graphics, and an ultra high-speed SSD drive. The video looks fantastic!

Let's start a new poll:
Who here would pay $15 a month to play the game in its current state? Even if all we could do is walk around?

I would.

Re: Working on the fifth of July

Ok, in my first hour, I solved a problem where a voltage regulator macro was missing a power pin, reviewed the errors and warnings for a SRAM macro, had a conference with some of the team in Toronto, and started looking at a std cell sigem error. Feel better? Now I'll slack the day away :mrgre...

Re: How do you feel about puzzle elements in MMORPGs?

I would support a Supervillain, the Puzzler, with story arcs with puzzles in them. I would also support a puzzle mini-game where you can win stuff by solving puzzles.

I'm not a big supporter of puzzles in the middle of a mission, it would tend to break the momentum and flow.

Re: Let's Talk About Badges

Let's say we have a healing badge. Should my character who can't heal get that badge? Or should it be limited to only the character that did the healing?

Same for damage. If I have a damage dealer, and he gets the badge, should my healer who doesn't do much damage also get the badge?

Re: Hardware specs for SoH?

Based on Tom's Hardware specs, the AMD equivalents are: Minimum Spec Intel I5 2nd generation is approximately equivalent to an AMD Phenom II quad core processor. These are over 10 years old. I'm not sure you can even buy one anymore. The NVidia GTX 450 is similar to the AMD 6850 series. Again, this ...
