Re: Servers

The official server type is Megaserver. There are a lot of games that use this, Including Star Trek Online. STO was the first, AFAIK, English MMORPG game that used this server structure. So, thank you Cryptic Studios for that. This has the distinct advantage of ensuring that you and your friends don...

Re: Hardware specs for SoH?

Windows 7 becomes a hacker's best friend Jan 22, 2020. That's when Microsoft ends all support for Win7. This is a huge deal, as Win10 patches won't work on Win7. Most Win7 patches work with XP and Vista, which is why they still get updates from MS. But that ain't gonna happen after Jan 22, 2020. Win...

Hardware specs for SoH?

Based on the feedback from the Login test, this is what I would expect will be the minimum hardware requirements and the recommended hardware specs to play Ship of Heroes. These specs may change as the game gets closer to release, but at this time these specs should be pretty close. If @olepi could ...

Re: Do you prefer detailed graphics models, or more flash?

My philosophy has always been simple. 1 - Is your computer doing what you need it to do and will do so for at least a year? If so keep using it. If not, 2- -Will the computer you are looking at still be viable in 3 years? If so, buy it. If not, 3 - Reconsider your needs and expectations, tempered by...

Go to Win10 right away!

On January 22 2020 Microsoft ends all support for Win7. Not a big deal you say, isn't XP doing fine even though support ended 5 years ago? XP, Vista and 7 are all built using the same kernel, the same engine, so to speak. Even though they are not actively supporting XP, more than half of the patches...

Re: Do you prefer detailed graphics models, or more flash?

A related question is what kind of hardware is the target? My old PC is similar to today's PS4 Pro, and it can run the old game without a hitch. When the old game was written, however, back in 2004, my hardware would have been off the charts. (In 1980, I used to buy computer systems for Motorola, a...

Re: Do you prefer detailed graphics models, or more flash?

I can't think of a single MMORPG with NPCs who's lips move, even in cut scenes. It is a waste of resources IMO. That does not mean we can't have great detail in our models :) If this is something the team wants to add later, that's great, but it is not needed now if it slows release. I want to state...

Re: Guardian Server - City of Heroes

You will need to make a character on all of the servers and send a friend request to your friend on each. Once he replies, you are in!

Re: Guardian Server - City of Heroes

You need to talk to your friend which servers he is using. For example, there are about 3 servers started by Reddit users. there are a lot more server farms out there than just Homecoming. Any of them that are not part of homecoming won't be connected to Tequila.

Re: Are consoles the way to go for MMO?

You can go with a subscription model, at least on the Xbox. I have played several games on my Xbox, including STO, DCUO, and ESO. STO sucks for the console. DCUO does very well on a console. ESO is OK on a console, not great, but not horribly worse than on a PC, like STO is. What is the difference? ...

Re: The leveling, augment and infusion video on MMORPG.com

I'll admit I am playing the CoH private servers, mostly for ideas. I am also doing a time test - how long will it take me to solo a Scrapper to the level cap, almost exclusively doing missions? I am at 63 hours to level 34, which projects to about 150-175 hours to 50. So, the leveling game is a lot ...
