Re: How is Damage Coded?

I am an epic fail
Epic failure is the best kind of failure. Normal failure happens everyday, while epic failure is very rare and impressive, and takes a special kind of person. So, this just means that you are very special, Odee. :P

Re: How is Damage Coded?

As someone who did some of this coding for UO shards, I can tell you that regardless of how the effect is called, you are going to have underlying functions that will get called, and how they interact is really the interesting thing. Power A causes a 1 second upward flinch on the target, as if they ...

Re: Will Positioning matter?

Stalker boosts were gained from having the Hidden flag active, and I think that later they gained crit chances from being near allies. The idea was, I think, that the allies distract the mobs giving the Stalker a chance to catch the mob unawares. So in a way, positioning did matter, but not with reg...

Re: What was your travel power of choice, and why?

I used all powers, but the interesting thing is that I loved the Teleport mechanism in Champions Online. That would have been my favorite travel power, I think, it if had been available.

Re: What archetype will you build in the CCT Beta?

Controller if available.

If not, then Support as long as it's debuff-oriented (Dark Miasma, Storm Summoning, etc).

If the support sets are buff-oriented, then I will get the support from the secondary and play a Devastator.

Re: Mez mechanics

One idea I had for CoH mezzing that was never implemented, was to pair mezzing with appropriate debuffing. In most cases, the debuffing wouldn't matter since the mez effect would make irrelevant, but if the mez landed but did not have an effect, then the debuffing would matter. This changed mez powe...

Re: Faces vs Speed of Launch question

You can't see the faces in the game until the game is running.... so get it running first, and upgrade facial options later.

Re: Defender secondaries

By the end of CoH, almost all Controllers could actually do decent single-target damage, and thus solo. Mind Controllers were a bit lower than usual, but Confuse helped. It was AoE damage where they were lacking, but that is more of a teaming role. As long as the "Control" powersets include built-in...

Re: Aggro mechanics

An idea for ranged Taunts might be to give all melee characters options to have ranged attacks. Maybe built into the powerset like Hurl Boulder, or maybe from a Power Pool. Then, you allow these attacks to be slotted for aggro. If Tanks already have a higher AT multiple for aggro build-up on attacks...

Re: The Next Few Things

Just as a different note from how strong a Tank's aggro-management SHOULD be, I had some guides for squishies regarding aggro, and the overall gist was this: Let the tank get aggro and try to maintain it... But if you break his aggro on a mob, it SHOULD NOT be a big deal. The reason is that in order...

Re: Can we talk about Instance difficulty & AI

I would love to see each different enemy faction provide a different sort of challenge. I actually found the high level factions in CoH did a reasonably good job of this - at least for the 45-50 game. Malta of course had sappers, and Tech-Ops stuns that lasted forever; Carnies had their death screa...
