Re: Secret real COH server has been active since 2012/2013

The dictator at the centre of all this made some snarky comment about they were planning to open to the public on the 15th anniversary, but, you know, what, suddenly they couldn't because of timing. Not because he's cranky that everybody is now aware of his secret sandbox, but that the timing just w...

Re: Secret real COH server has been active since 2012/2013

Preface - I am happy to support SoH and other successor projects. I do believe the children (in the figurative sense) are our future. However, having said that, I am ashamed to say that if I was given the opportunity to log into my old data and play my characters I would have in a heartbeat. I'm not...

Re: How do you feel about...HERDING??

The dreaded kb (not 'keyboard'!). I was chastised quite a few times for using them when someone on the team believed I shouldn't have. Often they were correct.

Re: Please make us run around this city

The novelty wore off for me fairly quickly (particularly when it was level 14). I had seen the cities many, many, many times by my tenth character - I really didn't want to experience it in slo mo again and again. I like what some other games do - give you a travel power/mount straight out of the tu...

Re: Epic Classes

I also didn't particularly like Khelds, and much prefer that there will be 'epic powers' rather than epic classes. I have no firm idea on how to implement these things, but I really don't think epic classes are the best option for either the players or the developers. Epic powers, on the other hand,...

Welcome back!! You'll find that these forums (fora?) are friendly and open. The vending machine is broken, but Consultant is working on that I'm sure ;)

Re: What didn't you like in CoH?

I had a much better experience with SG bases. I was never forced to do anything, although I always ran my level caps in SG mode. As the game matured the costs of maintaining a base got lower and lower, until our leader told us that there was enough Prestige in storage to keep the base active for ov...

Re: What didn't you like in CoH?

Our thinking on SG Bases is still quite early but as a COH palyer I also remember having to make like a dozen extra characters in order to get enough "something" to be able to start a base. Was it some special points of some kind? I'm not sure. Our little group fo three mostly used the base for sto...

Re: What was your travel power of choice, and why?

Flight on most of my characters, because I'm lazy and found it the most lazy way to travel (sometime it was thematic, but mostly it was laziness). TP on one or two, SS on a couple and SJ on, I think, one. I liked the powers that were lower in the TP, SJ and SS pools, but that was about the only thin...

Re: What didn't you like in CoH?

I also wasn't a big fan of Pocket D. I realise a lot of people loved it, but I found once we got all the teleportation units and beacons in our SG base that it was largely redundant. I realise that it was a gathering spot, and also a launching spot, but I thought it could have been much, much more t...

Re: What didn't you like in CoH?

I'm going to potentially cause some disagreement with this comment, but I didn't like the grind required to get items for bases when a SG was a duo. Yes, I know we chose to be a duo, but by Odin's beard it was a true grind to get base items. Luckily we played about three to four hours around work (a...

Re: How do you feel about puzzle elements in MMORPGs?

I really dislike puzzles in MMOs. The last MMO I played had them, but luckily there were approved plugins to answer them without user intervention. I suppose for some it adds immersion, but it's not for me. I like to switch my brain off when playing games.

Re: Newbie: How does one get a playable account

From a purely selfish perspective, I really, really hope that subscription can be bought in blocks, as $15US a month is a very expensive commitment when converted into Australian Dollars. I'd like to see a 3, 6 and 12 month block structure where it's around $12US a month if bought as a 12 month block.

Re: My little blog about the aggravation of playing MMO's after COH

I really did get a massive shock when I starting playing another MMO after CoX's shutdown. I just wasn't prepared for the (a) emphasis on stats (and by association, gear) and (b) the competitive dog-eat-dog communities that I found. I am so looking forward to again playing a game where this isn't th...

Re: Typ of Hero

I definitely am not a fan of the ultra-sweet hero that simply can do no wrong - I find it boring from a story perspective. If I had my way, I'd be making villains in the game (but accept that I can't - at least at launch). I've always found the villain of the piece much more interesting. So, to answ...
