Thank you JestersGhost for these examples and the analysis of what make them great. Anyone else care to comment about their favorite missions?

Ironically, the first non-tutorial mission in Cyberpunk 2077 is actually really good - optional side mission with multiple approaches that, coupled with the existing options on the main mission, actually gives a decent variety of ways the mission can play out. It's just a pity every mission after that is entirely linear.

The infamous malta mission from CoH that ends with you being ambushed by their titan mech - it makes you feel like what you're doing is actually affecting the wider world around you, and offers great collaborative play.

I'm not sure if this counts as a "mission", but the Rikti invasion special events were one of the best for bringing players together in a dramatic hold-the-line scenario where everyone could contribute in someway. Probably the time in game I felt most "heroic". Combined with the accidental easter-egg that the Rikti ships could be attacked and destroyed with enough co-ordination and you have yourself a classic.

The early Sith sorcerer and final Imperial agent missions in SW:tOR were my favourites from that game. The former because you had multiple opportunities to backstab and betray the various characters you were working with in way that was so on-brand and made you feel wonderfully Machiavellian. The latter for actually similar reasons - an agent is meant to be an infiltrator and saboteur primarily and you could play the various factions off one another, bluff a Sith lord into running away and then disappear off the grid to go solo. The choices made you feel empowered, in control and awesome in a way that was earnt.

Which missions in other games are worthy of "Hall of Fame" status and why?
